The Golden Sands Chorus is an extraordinary group of women who gather together in celebration of the art form known as barbershop music. We've been a stable part of Long Beach history for nearly six decades! With performances all over the Greater Long Beach area, we are always seeking talented women singers to join us. We currently have over 50 singers of all ages and from all walks of life.

The main purpose of Golden Sands Chorus is to get out and sing for our community. We sing at annual shows, a number of community events, and at annual competitions. We also perform Singing Telegrams around Mother's Day and during the holidays. We are available to sing at your next function or event. In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of acapella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals, and a very important component of the chorus experience. A couple of times a year, we will get coaching from a visiting master in the art of barbershop, where we learn many fabulous tricks of the trade.
In the spring of every year, Golden Sands Chorus participates in the Region 11 chorus competition in Bakersfield, California. Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses from our region to come together to sing for each other, and get some constructive feedback from a panel of judges. We are currently the 2nd place chorus for mid-sized groups and 3rd place chorus overall in our region. The winners of the regional competition in both quartet and chorus categories get to travel to International Competition, which is held in the fall in a city selected each year. In 2010, International Competition will be held in Seattle, Washington.
Most choruses have a number of members who form their own vocal quartets in addition to singing with the chorus. Golden Sands Chorus currently is home to two quartets, and we are very proud of them!

Golden Sands Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines, International, a non-profit organization of approximately 30,000 members in choruses and quartets, worldwide. The headquarters is in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Long Beach Chapter was chartered in 1952. Our name was officially changed to "The Golden Sands Chorus of Long Beach" in 1977.
The Golden Sands Chorus of Long Beach is a dynamic, award-winning chorus dedicated to musical excellence and sharing the joy of four-part harmony through education and cutting-edge performances. We encourage camaraderie, confidence, and community relations, and are committed to high energy and the magic we create in every exciting performance.
